The next two days will include a marvelous opportunity to create a new logo for Harley Davidson motorcycles.


Harley-Davidson Unit Project Guidelines
Project Overview:
            Harley-Davidson Motor Company. 
            The average Harley-Davidson motorcycle rider is in his/her middle age or older and has a full time career or full time job.  Harley-Davidson would like to appeal more to younger generations (20 – 30 year olds).  Your assignment is to create a marketing strategy to accomplish this goal.  Specifically, you need to do the following:
·                    Research what products Harley-Davidson currently offers to customers.
·        Discuss, in your own words, why middle-aged consumers are the major source of revenue for Harley-Davidson.
·        Discuss, in three paragraphs, how you would market Harley-Davidson motorcycles and accessories to a younger market.  (Think about price range, design, style, accessories, clothing, etc)
·        Create a new logo and slogan for Harley-Davidson Motor Company.
·        Create one print ad promoting Harley-Davidson to a younger audience.
Grading Criteria:

1.      Research what products Harley-Davidson currently offers to customers.  20 points.
            This section must be typed using Microsoft Word.  Explain in detail the products that Harley-Davidson currently offers to the public.  (Motorcycle types, clothing, accessories, etc).  Be specific and give details.  This section should be about 2 or 3 paragraphs in length.
2.      Discuss, in your own words, why middle-aged consumers are the major source of revenue for Harley-Davidson.  20 points.
            This section must be typed using Microsoft Word.  After completing the research phase of the project, you should come to a conclusion as to why most Harley-Davidson riders are middle-aged or older.  Explain your conclusion in one paragraph.
3.      Discuss, in three paragraphs, how you would market Harley-Davidson motorcycles and accessories to a younger market.  (Think about price range, design, style, accessories, clothing, etc).  20 points.
            This section must be typed using Microsoft Word.  Explain in three paragraphs how you plan to sell Harley-Davidson motorcycles and other products to a younger crowd.  Would you develop new products that are more appealing?  If so, what products?  Would you try to change the H-D image?  If so, how?  Would you change the price of the products?  If so, which products and what prices?
4.      Create a new logo and slogan for Harley-Davidson Motor Company.  20 points.
            This section should be done on plain, white, computer paper using colored pencils, markers, or crayons.  Hand draw a new logo for the Harley-Davidson Motor Company.  Remember, you are trying to appeal to a young audience.  Think about logos that you like and dislike to get you started.  Look at the existing logo.
            Under your new logo, write a new slogan that appeals to a young audience.
5.      Create one print ad promoting Harley-Davidson to a younger audience.  20 points.
            This section should be completed on plain, white, computer paper using colored pencils, markers, or crayons.  Design one creative print ad that will be placed in a magazine to help promote Harley-Davidson to a younger audience.  You should include your logo and slogan in the ad.
