Intro to Biz, Wednesday 9 Feb

Welcome. I am glad to see that you have found our blog for the Intro to Biz class.
All of life is an experiment.
This blog will be one of them. It might become a great tool for our learning together. Or, it might fail miserably. But, what the heck? Let's try it, OK?

Bell Work: On Tuesday, we studied about the three major types of business organizations. Why does an entrepreneur need to know about the different types of business ownership?

Our objective today is: Describe how coops and nonprofits are like and unlike corporations and franchises.

Your task is to read pages 94-98 in the book. You can access the book from this site: Glencoe. User name is itb2008 and password is jU6uspat.  (about 18 minutes)

After reading, break into five groups. (no more than 5 per group). Each group will create a PowerPoint presentation on one of these topics:

  • sole proprietorships,
  • corporations
  • partnerships
  • cooperatives
  • and nonprofit organizations
The presentation will be 5 slides that show the advantages and disadvantages of the type of business, the percent of that type of business in the US, and how much each type of business adds to our economy.

Please let me know what else you would like to see on this site. Let's make it a class project that we could proudly show our administrators, OK?

Thank you,

Mr. Burd
